Now is the Time to Stock UP and Save on Toys, Clothing, and More!

There are some great deals to be had right now if you are keeping your eyes open.  Now is the perfect time to start stocking up on gifts for birthdays and upcoming holidays.  And yes, even Christmas.   Amazon is having some great deals on toys.  I have seen Fred Meyer's slashing their clearances prices every week.  Today they had prices marked down an additional 70%!  You have to take advantage of deals like that, but you don't want to go overboard.  It is easy to spend more than you want when everything is so deeply discounted.  However, you have to hit the stores or online websites with a game plan.  Make a list of the number of boy and girl gifts you think you may need in the next few months to a year.  Then stick to that number.  Also, now is the best time to keep your eye out for a jacket or other cold weather gear you may need for next year.  Several stores in the mall have been having some great clearance sales, like Macy's and The Children's place.  You can also save more when you use a coupon that will usually work on clearance prices as well. And when you are shopping online don't forget to do a search for a coupon code before you check out!  Even Amazon has a Coupon Page.  Have fun shopping and enjoy your savings!

A Visit to Red Lily Vineyards in Applegate

This past weekend my husband surprised me with an early Valentine's date out to Red Lily Vineyards in the Applegate.   We had been looking forward to visiting the vineyard since we had a glass of their Tempranillo at The Twisted Cork in Grants Pass.  It was such a rich and luscious wine and we couldn't wait to check out the vineyard.  Red Lily Vineyards greeted us with a bright and friendly staff, as well as a generous tasting.  Our tasting included a sparkling white wine, a terrific viognier, a beautiful rose`, and two sensuous tempranillos.

   They have a nice local food menu to compliment their wines.  We chose the spinach and swiss pot pies from Pennington Farms.  It also came with a side of spicy arugula.  The presentation of our meal was beautiful and tasted wonderful.  We choose the Red Blanket 2007 Tempranillo to accompany our meal.  It is a smooth and luscious wine with hints of cherry.  The wine finishes with an undertone of smoke and vanilla.  This medium bodied wine is like a chenille blanket, soft and cozy.  We had a wonderful experience at the vineyard, and look forward to our next visit.  I would take a relaxing sunny afternoon next to the fireplace at Red Lily Vineyard, over an overcrowded restaurant in town any day.
